Colombian typical food!

Just as Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world, it's cuisine is almost just as varied. Colombia doesn't have one national dish, but each region has its own. We can find African, Indigenous, Spanish, Arab and even Asian influences in our cuisine.

Some of the most common ingredients are rice, corn, beans, plantains, potatoes, certain legumes and native fruits. In the Andean region we find lechona, tamales, changuas and ajiaco, which is made with chicken, potatoes, corn, avocado and herbs. In the Caribean, there's ceviche, coconut rice and egg arepas. In Antioquia we have the Bandeja paisa, which is one of the most well-known dishes of Colombia and it's made of rice, beans, pork rind, avocado, plantain and eggs. In our city, Medellín, we also have sancocho, fríjoles (beans) antioqueños, and arepas. In the Valle del Cauca we find enpanadas, champús and tamales. There's also roasted ants in Santander.

We are also the home of come rare native fruits like lulo, zapote, borojó, passion fruit, mamoncillo, guava, uchiva and níspero. Among our typical beverages, we find aguapanela, guarapo and salpicón, not to forget that we have one of the best coffees in the world!

Colombia is definitely a culinary adventure!
